EasyPeg Documentation

Your first steps with EasyPeg

To open an image,

you click on "File" and then on "Open". A standard file open dialog will appear and you can select the image. Another way to do this is, instead of clicking on "Open" click on "Browse". ┤Then the EasyPeg Image Browser will open.

To use the Image Browser, (use it to view and open images)

click on "File" and then on "Browse" or simply press the key "F11". On the left side of the browser you will see the subdirectories of the current directory. The right side displays the images that are in that directory. To open an image, doubleclick on the image. To change the directory doubleclick on the subdirectory (".." means "one directory up", e.g. to get from "c:\mydir" to "c:\").

If you opened more than one image, to switch between the images,

you click on "Images" in the menu and then click on the name of the image you want.
As alternative, you can either press the key "F12" or click on the Images Window with your mouse. The first row displays the images that are open. Doubleclick the image you want to edit now.

To save an image,

click on "File" and then on "Save" or "Save As" if you want to change the name of the image. If you didn't enter a file extension, the programm will ask you to select one. Usually you want to save your images as JPG. Then, in case of JPG, another window will pop up and ask you to select the rate of compression. Click on "OK" to finally save your image.

To switch between paint mode and selection modes,

you can click on the arrow or pen in the bar below the menu. Then a menu pops up and you can select the mode you want to switch to.
Alternative: Click on "Edit" and then either on "Select" or on "Paint" and then on the mode you want, e.g. "Rectangle" or "Circle" or ...

To select an area of an image,

press the left button of your mouse, keep it pressed and move your mouse. A rectangle will display the selection. When the rectangle has the right size, then stop pressing the left button.
If you don't want to select rectangular areas, you can change to selecting circles, freehand or polygon. Again start selecting with clicking your left mouse button on the start position of the selection and keep it pressed until you have selected the area you want and then release the left mouse button. In the case of polygon selection, this is slightly different, to place a new polygon , click the left mouse button when your mouse is at the desired position for the new .

To use effects,

click on "Effects" and then on the effect you want to use. Most effects let you edit some of its parameters and a window for the effect will be opened. Adapt the parameters as you need them. E.g. in the effect "Brightness", move the bar to the right to make the image brighter and to the left to make it darker. Please note, you won't see any changes until you press "Preview" or "OK". Effects may take some time to process.
To preview the effect, click on "Preview".
To cancel the effect, click on "Cancel".
To apply the effect, click on "OK".
